This project is an investigation of "guilty pleasure" in the age of algorithms. It began with an observation: on platforms like Pinterest, I came across hyper-sexualized images in the aesthetic of 90s anime, generated by neural networks. In the comments, people would ask, "What anime is this from?" only to receive the reply: "It's AI.»

I was struck by this situation of double deception. First, the machine creates a perfect simulation of nostalgic desire. Second, the viewer, experiencing this desire, searches for its source in a non-existent work. The AI becomes not just a tool, but an accomplice, relieving the human of the burden of responsibility for creating the "forbidden" image.

In the project, I translate these "rootless" digital simulacra into materiality through the diatype technique, and then, by hand with colored pencils, I introduce slow, almost tactile labor into them. This process of manual refinement becomes an allegory for reflection: is it possible, after delegating the production of our desire to a machine, to then "humanize" it by hand and reclaim it?

Automatic Love is not about the capabilities of AI. It is a project about our willingness to entrust the machine with the most intimate thing—the form of our attraction—and about the anxious, awkward pleasure we experience when contemplating the results of this delegation.
